Dear Parishioners
As Ohio continues to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Governor Mike DeWine has issued an order mandating masks be worn in public in Cuyahoga County.
Governor DeWine said that Cuyahoga County (which includes both St. Maron Church in Cleveland and Saint Maron Chapel in Independence) will be required to wear masks or face coverings during the following circumstances:
- When they are in any indoor location that is not a residence.
- When they are outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of six feet or more from individuals who are not members of their household.
Experts have said: cloth masks do not protect the wearer so much as impede the spread of minuscule spittle droplets that carry the virus through the air, including from infected people who show no symptoms. Let’s help to protect other parishioners from this deadly virus.
Children younger than 10 and others with a medical reason not to wear a mask are exempt.
County and city health commissioners have informed Governor DeWine the largest sources of spread have been family gatherings and some tourist venues, workplaces, and CHURCHES.
Thank you for continuing to support Saint Maron Church as along with all of you, we pray for an end to this pandemic. May God bless all of you and your families and keep you safe and healthy.
Sincerely yours,
Fr. Elias Yazbeck
